GROWING IN FRIENDSHIP WITH JESUS
Am I growing in my friendship with Jesus, seeing it as more valuable than anything else?
Apprentices of Jesus know who God is through Scripture. What does reading Scripture look like for you? And how would you like to see it grow?
Apprentices of Jesus hear what God is saying through what they are reading in Scripture and through a daily life of prayer. Do you have someone in your life that you pray with regularly?
Will used the illustration of a stool, noting the difference of knowing a stool exists and fully sitting on it. This was to explain the difference between knowing Jesus is real and fully trusting in Him. Apprentices of Jesus grow in faith, trust and expectation. Do you simply know about Jesus, or are you growing in trust? What would it look like to trust in him more today?

Following Jesus means not just knowing Him but becoming more like him. Our character, attitudes and mindset changes. Look at this list of ‘fruits of the Spirit’ which highlight the character traits of God that grow in our lives when we are close to the Holy Spirit. What stands out to you from these verses?
Galatians 5:22-2622
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
What area of character do you think God is helping you grow in at this time? What about Jesus would you love to see grow in your life?

Let’s end this session by thanking Jesus for the amazing privilege of friendship with Him and for His help to go deeper. Then pray for the Holy Spirit’s leading in growing in becoming more like Jesus. Pray with someone.
